Details

Brit Veterinary Diet Hepatic is a dietetic complete feed for dogs formulated to support liver function in the case of chronic liver insufficiency. With a moderate level of highly digestible protein, low copper, and a blend of milk thistle, prebiotics, and gut flora stabilisers, this formula helps reduce the metabolic burden on the liver and supports hepatic recovery and long-term management.

Indications

  • 🐶 Hepatic insufficiency and hepatic failure
  • 🐶 Portosystemic shunt (PSS)
  • 🐶 Hepatic encephalopathy
  • 🐶 Convalescence following intoxication

Key Ingredients & Their Benefits

  • 🌱 Yellow Peas (20%) — Plant-based protein source with a lower biological value than meat, reducing ammonia production and easing the burden on the liver during hepatic insufficiency.
  • 🥚 Eggs (14%) — Highly digestible, high biological value protein supporting muscle maintenance with minimal metabolic stress on the liver.
  • 🍠 Sweet Potatoes — Highly digestible, low-glycaemic carbohydrate source providing sustained energy and supporting gut health.
  • 🌾 Buckwheat — Gluten-free grain alternative providing digestible carbohydrates and antioxidant flavonoids supporting liver health.
  • 🐟 Hydrolysed Turkey Protein (7%) & Salmon Oil (2%) — Highly digestible, pre-broken-down protein and Omega-3 fatty acids (0.6%) with anti-inflammatory properties supporting liver tissue recovery and cardiovascular health.
  • 🌿 Milk Thistle Seeds (0.2%) — Contains silymarin, a potent hepatoprotective compound that supports liver cell regeneration, reduces inflammation, and protects against oxidative damage.
  • 🍎 Apple Pulp — Natural source of pectin (soluble fibre) supporting healthy digestion and gut health.
  • 🌿 Dried Algae – Ascophyllum nodosum (0.5%) — Natural marine algae supporting oral health, thyroid function, and overall wellbeing.
  • 🍊 Sea Buckthorn (0.015%) — Natural antioxidant supporting immune function and liver mucosal health.
  • 🧬 Beta-Glucans (0.02%) & Fructo-Oligosaccharides (FOS, 0.02%) & Mannan-Oligosaccharides (MOS, 0.022%) — Immune-modulating fibres and prebiotics supporting gut-associated immune function and balanced intestinal flora.
  • 🥛 Enterococcus faecium DSM 10663/NCIMB 10415 (1×10⁹ CFU/kg) — Probiotic gut flora stabiliser supporting intestinal microbiome health and immune function.
  • 🌿 Mojave Yucca (0.02%) — Supports nutrient absorption and reduces stool odour.
  • 🥛 Taurine (2,200 mg/kg) — Supports healthy heart function, bile acid conjugation, and liver detoxification processes.
  • 🔬 L-Carnitine (330 mg/kg) — Supports fat metabolism and energy production, helping maintain lean body mass during hepatic management.
  • 🔬 Choline Chloride (2,200 mg/kg) — Essential nutrient supporting liver fat metabolism and preventing hepatic lipidosis.
  • Vitamins & Minerals — Vitamins A (23,000 IU), D3 (1,000 IU), E (1,000 mg), C (500 mg), B1, B2, B6, B12, Niacin, Biotin, Folic Acid, Choline, Calcium Pantothenate, Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Iodine, and Selenium. Note: Very low copper (0.001%) — deliberately restricted to prevent copper accumulation in the liver, which is critical for dogs with hepatic disease.

Method of Use

  • 🔴 Initial Feeding Period: Use Brit VD Hepatic Dog initially for a period of up to 6 months. The daily amount of food should be divided into several equal portions throughout the day. Do not feed your dog any other pet food, human food, or snacks. In case of chronic hepatic insufficiency, the food should be used for life.
