Details

Brit Veterinary Diet Renal is a dietetic complete feed for dogs formulated to support renal function in the case of chronic renal insufficiency (CRI). With restricted, high-quality protein, reduced phosphorus, and a carefully balanced blend of potassium citrate, omega-3 fatty acids, and gut flora stabilisers, this formula helps manage uremic toxin production and supports kidney health and quality of life.

Indications

  • 🐶 Chronic renal insufficiency (CRI)

Contraindications

  • ⚠️ Not suitable for puppies
  • ⚠️ Not suitable for pregnant or nursing dogs

Key Ingredients & Their Benefits

  • 🌱 Yellow Peas (44%) — Primary protein and energy source with a lower biological value than meat protein, reducing the production of uremic toxins and easing the burden on compromised kidneys.
  • 🐟 Hydrolysed Salmon Protein (7%) & Salmon Oil (2%) — Highly digestible, pre-broken-down protein with rich Omega-3 fatty acids (0.6%) providing anti-inflammatory support for kidney tissue and cardiovascular health.
  • 🥚 Eggs (10%) & Egg Shells (calcium source) — High biological value protein supporting muscle maintenance with natural calcium for bone health.
  • 🍎 Apple Pulp — Natural source of pectin (soluble fibre) supporting healthy digestion and stool normalisation.
  • 🌿 Potassium Citrate (0.8%) — Helps alkalinise urine, reducing the risk of calcium oxalate crystal formation and supporting urinary tract health in dogs with CRI.
  • 🧬 Chitosan (0.08%) — Natural fibre derived from shellfish that binds phosphorus in the gut, reducing phosphorus absorption — critical for managing CRI progression.
  • 🌿 Psyllium Husks & Seeds (0.5%) — Natural soluble fibre supporting healthy bowel movements and gut health.
  • 🌿 Dried Algae – Ascophyllum nodosum (0.5%) — Natural marine algae supporting oral health, thyroid function, and overall wellbeing.
  • 🧬 Beta-Glucans (0.022%) & Fructo-Oligosaccharides (FOS, 0.02%) & Mannan-Oligosaccharides (MOS, 0.025%) — Immune-modulating fibres and prebiotics supporting gut-associated immune function and balanced intestinal flora.
  • 🥛 Enterococcus faecium DSM 10663/NCIMB 10415 (1×10⁹ CFU/kg) — Probiotic gut flora stabiliser supporting intestinal microbiome health and immune function.
  • 🍊 Sea Buckthorn (0.015%) — Natural antioxidant supporting immune function and gut mucosal health.
  • 🌿 Mojave Yucca (0.02%) — Supports nutrient absorption and reduces stool odour.
  • 🥛 Taurine (2,200 mg/kg) — Supports healthy heart function and immune system — particularly important in dogs with CRI who may have reduced taurine synthesis.
  • 🔬 Arginine (3,200 mg/kg) — Supports renal blood flow, nitric oxide production, and immune function in dogs with kidney disease.
  • 🔬 L-Carnitine (330 mg/kg) — Supports fat metabolism and energy production, helping maintain lean body mass during CRI management.
  • Vitamins & Minerals — Vitamins A (21,000 IU), D3 (1,000 IU), E (1,000 mg), C (500 mg), B1, B2, B6, B12, Niacin, Biotin, Folic Acid, Choline, Calcium Pantothenate, Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Iodine, Copper, and Selenium supporting immunity, bone health, and overall wellbeing.

Method of Use

  • 🔴 Chronic Renal Insufficiency: The majority of CRI dogs suffer from inappetency or anorexia due to the effect of uremic toxins on the gastrointestinal mucosa. Protein catabolism during inappetency increases the production of uremic toxins and worsens the condition. It is necessary to maintain food intake and gradually transition from the previous diet to Brit VD Renal Dog. Wet food further improves palatability and acceptance of the new diet.
